My May Faves

My life is going under somewhat of a transformation/regeneration of sorts at the moment where I am focusing on me and what makes and happy and that following is what is what I currently immersing my nerdy self with:

READING:

Day of the triffids - John Wyndham

“After meteors enter Earth's atmosphere, blinding much of the planet's population in the process, plant like creatures known as Triffids emerge from the craters and begin to take over. Military officer Bill Masen, one of the few sighted people left alive, meets with other survivors in England and tries to find a safe haven from the vicious vegetation, as scientist Tom Goodwin desperately seeks a way to defeat the leafy extraterrestrials.”

I bought the condensed version of this book from the airport after my partner raved about the movie and am really enjoying it so far. I am a big fan of sci-fi and they storyline really piqued my interest. I haven’t gotten too far into it yet - but I am trying to read some every night - and no I haven’t had nightmares about killer plants yet.

WATCHING:

Killing Eve (TVNZ on demand)

I saw this advertised ages ago and am addicted (having just downloaded the soundtrack onto my Spotify).

It follows Eve, a spy working for the MI5 on the chase to catch a very talented assassin - Villanelle. The two go head to head in an exciting game of cat and mouse - each equally obsessed with the other. Will Eve ever catch her prey? Or will Villanelle put an end to it, and to her?

PLAYING:

Tomb Raider - Xbox

Yes, I know I need to update my game console, but I am addicted to this game and finishing every mission and finding every artifact.

The overall look of Lara is very similar to how she appears in the recent movie version but the storyline is quite different.

I love the new look Lara, she is a lot more ‘life-like’ and relatable (as opposed to earlier large proportioned version).

And I also have The Rise of Tomb Raider to finish too.

DOING:

Stand Up Paddle Boarding

I started paddle boarding this past summer and just recently bought my own board (thanks Moana SUP Nelson). Such a great sport for fitness and enjoying our gorgeous scenery.

Oh and today I got invited to go paddling with an awesome group of girls in August - in Hawaii!! Bye bye savings - hello overtime!

LISTENING:

ID1OT w/ Chris Hardwick (formerly called Nerdist) - iTunes

I am a huge fan of Chris Hardwick and just found his Podcast on iTunes (I have like 60 in-played episodes right now lol). It is pretty much just him, his friends Matt Mira and Jonah Rey and some famous guests (including David Tennant, Antonio Banderas and Alan Alda) chatting about their careers, their hobbies , lives and much more. They are really worth listening to for nerds and well, anyone really.

.

What are you loving this month?

Anna :-)
