Travelling

Hi all - Jaime is currently in America and was having trouble uploading her blog post. So this is from her. x d

I travel relatively frequently. One overseas trip at least once a year and a few mini trips and I thought I would share some of the things that I take with me when I travel. Because being stuck on a plane for a long time is never going to be easy...even if you are on your way to San Diego for Comic Con.

First up is a good pair of headphones. I have a pair of Sony headphones which are mid range but cover my ears. I’m not adverse to in ear ones but when I’m on a plane I like the security of having them cover my ears. Maybe it’s a way to ward off people or maybe it’s the little extra cushioning, either way good headphones are a must.

Another must have is a good book. I always treat myself to one at the airport even though I also bring one. I’m currently reading Tamora Pierce’s Tempest Slaughter. Though I’m looking forward to looking around the airport bookstores.

This year I’m taking my new iPad Pro and Apple Pencil. I have taken a laptop in the past but have found it a hassle to have to take it out of the case and a tablet is just a little easier to move around. It gives me a chance to check on emails and play games or catch up on Netflix. Also, it’s handy for writing up blog posts while I’m flying over the Pacific. Aside from google docs two apps that I have found to be worth my while are Procreate and Good Notes.

Next is a good moisturiser and some face wipes. I am using one from Lush which is nearly empty. I have sensitive skin so I like to have something that sits nicely and has a minimal scent as I don’t want to set off my allergies if I can help it. And face wipes are just brilliant if you are on a plane for a long time. It’s a shower in wipe form as odd as that may sound.

I also take a notebook for jotting down ideas. And for some random sketching along the way. Also for writing down recommendations because you’ll most likely see or hear things that you’ll want to remember.

One of the most important things that you need to have when you are travelling is patience. There are so many things that crop up that can become an inconvenience but if you have patience and always default to kindness you will easily find that travel can be fun. After all, you are going on an adventure and all hobbits know that adventures are great for the soul.

So what are your essentials for travel?

Until next time.

xJaime

P.S. I forgot to pack my power bank and that’s a definite as you don’t wanna forget and important piece of tech that helps you find worthy friends.
