Day two started early after a somewhat restless sleep (thanks again neighbours for talking loudly and slamming doors, much appreciated).
Quick breakfast of coffee (can’t start my day without it) and toast, checking and rechecking the schedule for the day; then packing and making sure I had everything, I was off for a full day of panels, panels, autographs and more shopping. Squee!!!
It was so cool walking to the venue and seeing everyone else doing the same all dressed up in their cosplay outfits. I am so tempted to cosplay at the Auckland Armageddon this year, maybe as Lara Croft from the latest Tomb Raider movie. I think I will, I just need to work up the nerve to to do it now.
Getting into the event was quick and easy this time with the Premium Pass letting me and the others in 10 minutes before everyone else (muhahaha).
The first thing I did, was race down and grab a token for a DJ Qualls autograph as I had not purchased one previously and after seeing him at the panel yesterday I was stoked to be able to still get one.
First up was my Jeremy Renner photo, and people with the 10am session were already queuing up at 9am. Mine was at 11 so I had a chance to wander around first but I raced back as soon as I could just to stay near for the front of the line.
Although he did keep us waiting longer than expecting it was such a thrill to see him (and his security entourage) walking down the stairs.
Due to the insane number of people waiting, we were all ushed through rather quickly but we all got to spend a few seconds with him (he is such a sweetheart). I don’t like the goofy face in my photo, but hey I am standing next to Jeremy ‘frickn’ Renner!
Due at Main Stage at noon for the What We Do In The Shadows panels, I wandered my way there, (getting more purchases on the way).
I had not seen the movie before seeing Deacon (Jonathon Brugh) and Petyr (Ben Fransham) but knew of the film and it’s story (if you haven’t seen it yet, please do, it’s incredible) and seeing them in character was so hilarious.
They stayed in full character and customer the whole time (luckily I wasn’t too sunny that day) and even taught us some ‘erotic dancing’ moves lol.
One seriously cute moment was when Petyr was asked by a young girl if he would ever eat a cat, to which he quickly replied ‘yes’ followed by ‘meow’ and 'here puss puss' (which he continued to do throughout the panel).
Continuing on from there, Deacon and Petyr were taking selfies and signing autographs. I was quite nervous about this, I still have no idea why. Deacon loved the fact that my name was so easy.
1pm and it was time for Jeremy Renner to hit the main stage. I tried to get there early so I could get a good seat and some cool photos. Mission accomplished! Jeremy was amazing.
The man's hair was totally on point (his style is amazing) as he answered all his fans questions. He was laid back and his laugh was so contagious. He understandably avoided questions about Avengers Infinity War (although he did speak of this joy of being Hawkeye and being part of the Marvel family) and spoke with his great love about being a Dad as well as his time filming The Hurt Locker and Wind River.
DJ’s panel was at 3pm so I had time after Jeremy to relax and eat and generally ‘people watch’.
Oh yea, and I almost lost my phone AND my wallet! I had put all stuff down to refill my water bottle and then proceeded walk off and leave me phone and wallet on the ground (grrr idiot). Luckily, I noticed just as I got to DJ’s panel and rushed back as someone had handed them in to the celebrity photo booth (thanks again Armageddon staff, you guys are amazing).
The smaller room that DJ's panel was in it made it more personal and fun for all of us (I managed to score myself a front row seat to this one). His stories were so fun (he was like the energizer bunny bouncing from one story to the next) and he always seemed to go off on a tangent with each one but everyone was hanging on his every word. And yet again he brought out the “worst game show in the world”.
I really need to see more of his work so I am planning on watching Citizen Z very soon as he brought up some cool 'behind the scenes' stories about him and the dog which I am dying to see (as well as his appearance on Supernatural of course).
Can I just say that his clothing style is amazing too - I so wanted his hat!
All of my missions for the day were complete, my feet were exhausted, my heart was full, so it was time to go back and rest before the last day
