I am already anxious about this, but this year will be my first time doing a cosplay ever!
As you have probably seen in previous vlogs I am HUGE fan of Lara Croft/Tomb Raider and of course of the latest released movie starring Alicia Vikander (if you haven’t already seen it, please go check it out, this version is amazing!!
My goal is to get my costume as close as hers as possible - as well as a mix of the game version too (like the image below).

I have been watching so many tutorials and scouring sites like laracroftcosplay.com for inspiration and here is a general rundown of what is required/what I have acquired so far:
THE TOP
The tank top that Alicia wears in the film is described as a ‘Taupe/Stone Tank Top with a Square Neckline’. I found one somewhat similar at Cotton On here in New Zealand for $12, but I suppose you can use any grey basic singlet/tank.
THE PANTS
I’ve always loved cargo pants (so many pockets!) and the ones Alicia wears look amazing. They are green, tapered and very slim fitting. I managed to find these ones (pictured above - they are actually green but photo turned out brown) at the Warehouse, but unfortunately they are drawstring (Alicia’s are worn with a very stylish belt) - but I can always alter them.
THE BOOTS
I still need to get these, but they like black army boots which should be easy enough to find.
THE ICE AXE
The ice axe that Alicia Vikander uses in Tomb Raider for her Lara Croft role is the DMM Rebel Adze Ice Axe.
I was totally bamboozled as to how I was going to recreate this, but thankfully I found this cool YouTube video here with links to where you can print off the template - all you have to do is print and paint it!
THE BOW AND ARROW
I have managed to find myself a cool cheap archery set (from Hello Banana for about $7) - hopefully I can alter it enough to looks as badass as Lara’s.
ADDITIONAL ACCESSORIES
These are also still be acquired/made:
Belt
Rag bangs/bandages
Walky-Talky
Pistol (which of course will be plastic).
I will post again on this closer to the Expo date (October) - in the meantime, follow me on Instagram and Twitter for updates.
Anna :-)
