As a teacher my time gets taken up by a lot of things so, every now and then, my blog post will be one where I recap what I’ve been doing with regards to reading, playing, watching etc. I call it Currently as in what I’m currently doing.
Reading:
Lovecraft Country by Matt Ruff
I ordered this book just after Christmas but it was a back order so I didn’t get it until two weeks ago. I had another couple of books I had to finish before I started this one and so far I’m enjoying it. Set in 1954 in the US, we follow Atticus Turner, his Uncle George and childhood friend Letitia as they set about finding Atticus’s father. Not only to they have to deal with Jim Crow laws and the racism ever present but there are also magic and monsters. I’ve just started it but I am enjoying Ruff’s writing style and I’ll keep you updated.
Watching:
What We Do In The Shadows
Why haven’t I watched this earlier? Stupid decision on my part. It appeared on Netflix so I finally watched it. Jemaine Clement and Taika Waititi are a force to be reckoned with. The kiwi humour is brilliant. If you’ve not heard of it - What We Do In The Shadows is a mockumentary that follows a group of vampires living in Wellington. And that’s all I’m going to say. You need to watch it.
Also I’m super excited to watch Annihilation when it drops on Netflix, which is supposed to be today in New Zealand but I have a feeling it might not drop until tomorrow.

A folk rock band that has reignited my love of the banjo. Seriously, there needs to be more banjo in music.

Again... continuously... because Preston always has another mission for me.
Doing:
School work...marking and planning...
And journaling... but not to the amazing extent that Deanna does.
